Formica rufibarbis is an active and aggressive serviformica species which recommend for beginners. You can easily identify this species, because on the queens thorax there is an unique red shape which looks like a “backpack”. 🙂  One of the most-liked red antspecies in Europe, because of their middle-big size, fast development, and active lifestyle. For experienced ant keepers this species able to adopt socialparasite ants (like Formica sanguinea, Formica pratensis or Polyergus rufescens).
